How to treat a friend. Tutorial?

Have you ever tried to ask someone someone a question, and if they aren't too happy with you at the moment, they will answer with a rude, snappy response. Examples include "I dont care." "So?!" "Whatever, its true." Well, I know I have. So for all you backstabbers out there, THIS is how you properlly treat a friend.

  • Smile (a lot!)
  • Act like you care (even if you don't)
  • Only use the bitter truth if they ask you to (dress shopping?)
  • Don't you the silent treatment (It only makes things worse)
Thats only a few, but the biggest tip would be never stoop down to someone else's level. Stealing is a horrible thing to do. Sure, at the time it sounds good. "she did this to me, so she can just suffer without her new shoes. It's her fault for leaving them in the locker room anyways." So WRONG.

I know your copying and pasting, all you cheaters out there.

Don't try and sneak past the fact that no one I know write with that much brain power. No offense. Just because it sounds cool on the internet, won't get past the fact that everyone who reads it and knows you normally will see past the fact that compared to your usual writing, that is a serious step up. Websites use technical terms. When you write, you are supposed to paraphrase- use your own words. So before you copy and paste, think a little.

My original christmas story.

I found last year's engish assignment!

An Original Christmas Story
By Lauren Sargent

            “He is too! Tommy yelled.
“He is not and I’ll prove it.” Said his sister, Maria, who then casually walked over to the couch and sat down, knowing how mad she was making her brother. Tommy was 12, and he STILL believed in Santa Clause. But instead of letting her mother tell him, she was going to do it herself. “How do you explain no cookies being eaten and milk being touched?!” Her mother and father didn’t always catch everything.
“Maybe he was full!” Tommy yelled, getting red faced.
She’d really done it now.
Tommy burst into tears and ran into his bedroom. Maria felt a slight twinge of guilt but quickly brushed it off. It was for Tommy’s own good. “Well, I better get my outfit ready for tomorrow.” She was planning on wearing the new dress she had just bought, not caring about her father’s strict rule of no buying anything for yourself after November 15. He’ll get over it, she thought. Just then, her phone beeped: ONE NEW TEXT MESSAGE, read the screen.
Are we still
going shopping
Saturday?! –Kristen

Maria quickly typed back a “yes”, she would never pass up a good opportunity for new clothes, who cares if Christmas is next week?! Just then both her father and mother came into the room.
“What is this!!” her father yelled, holding up the three new bags of clothes she had just bought.
“Oh, umm, I just bought those…” she said nervously.
“And whats this I hear about you telling Tommy that Santa isn’t real!?” Her mother yelled.
“Its time he knows!” She screamed.
“You have no right to do that.” Her mother said. “your grounded till Christmas.”
“WHAT!!!” Maria screamed.
“And not only for that, but for you buying.” Her father said. “Give me your wallet.” She reluctantly handed it over and watched as her parents stormed out of her room. She pulled out her phone and typed:
Sorry, no go on the
Shopping, I’m cut off
And grounded, long story
-Maria

“Ugh” she said, falling back on her pillows, “This is going to be the longest week of my life.”
And it was.
Not only did she have to watch all her friends go shopping without her, but she had to come home right after school. Finally, it was Christmas Eve. “At least I’ll have new stuff to look forward to.” She said gazing at the presents and stockings. She was quiet through dinner and was finally allowed to leave and go to bed. She expected to fall asleep fast, but sleep wouldn’t come. At 3 A.M., she went downstairs to get something to drink. She heard bells. She whipped around and standing by the Christmas tree was SANTA CLAUSE. There was no way that was her dad or her mom. He winked and then in a flash, disappeared. She quickly ran over, the stockings were full and the milk and cookies gone. She ran back upstairs and flopped on her bed. “He’s real.” She thought.
The sleep finally came.
On Christmas morning she laughed and played with Tommy, opening their stockings and presents. She even said “THANKS!” hugging her parents when they got her the clothes she had just bought a week before. Who cares, because Santa Clause is real!, she thought. She now realized how selfish she had been. How could she have said and done those things to her family!? She gave them all a tight hug. “I love you guys, I love you so much.”
The End.

My opinion...I don't really care! :)

So almost everyone has heard the big huge bombshell that Republican Presidential candidate Herman Cain has sexually harassed several women. Of course, he denies all claims against him. Honestly when I got this assignment, I thought: "ehh, whatever." My personal opinion is that I really don't care. He could have done it, sure, but he also have very well NOT HAVE.

So anyways, I am a neutral party.

Why I write

Today's assignment was why I write. I guess if I really had to think about there's a few main reasons.. Besides it being a good hobby, once you get into writing something, and if you enjoy it, it becomes so much more fun. You can't stop writing once you stop! Especially when you finish and you see what you've done, it makes me really proud. Writing is what mostly makes up journalism, so you really have to think about when you write it down.

Sometimes I get stuck when I'm writing a story, and it makes it difficult to move on the the next topic. In that point you have to think outside of the box. (more so than you should have already!) I for one have trouble with titles. I don't know why honestly. especially for the newspaper... I usually need help with that no matter what I do.

Creative Writing Story: Shifting

Creative Writing Story: Shifting.
Shifting my glance to the side of the chair, I noticed a small green suitcase.  That suitcase always meant another place, another foster home. That suitcase contained everything I have. My vision moved to the other side, focusing on my younger brother, Cameron. Being only five years old, he was always so scared, clinging to me. He would always ask where mommy and daddy were.
“Where’s mommy, Becca? Where’s daddy? Why haven’t they come to get us?” I’ve always thought it was so cute how Cameron couldn’t pronounce Rebecca, so he would call me Becca.  Absolutely adorable.  I hate to see Cameron like this. When mom and dad died in the house fire that burned our house down, and everything we had left gone, I had tried to tell him. How are you supposed to tell a five year old that mom and dad aren’t coming home! Even though I told him, he still seemed to block it out of his mind. He is so young he doesn’t understand. Thank God that day we weren’t in the house. If anything had happened to him, I couldn’t live with myself. No matter how bad this is, being alone…I couldn’t survive. A lady in a grey pantsuit came in, carrying a briefcase. Her hair was in a tight bun and she had a smug, tired look on her face.
“Rebecca and Cameron Brooks?” she said sternly, quickly, to the point. This startled me.
“That’s us! Cam, lets go, OK?” I said, taking his hand.
“ Is it mommy and daddy?” he said, grabbing his blue suitcase that matched my green one.
“ No, Cam its not mom or dad, don’t be scared, were going to a new place to live. You’ll meet all kinds of new kids and have so many friends!” I said. I think every time we go someplace new, I’m not trying to convince just Cam, but also myself.
“OK, Becca. But when we get there, they won’t laugh at Teddy again?”  Of course he was worried about Teddy, Cameron’s favorite thing in the entire world. That stuffed bear is the only thing Cameron has left from mom and dad. Cameron has to be so careful so all the brats in foster care don’t destroy it. The last home they were at, the woman’s birth children took Teddy, Cameron cried for days until he found Teddy stashed under one of the kid’s beds. He had lost an eye. The foster lady had found some thread and a Teddy's eye somewhere else under the bed and attached it again.
“Of course not, Cam.” I said, worried as usual. Every foster home meant somewhere entirely different. No matter how many times they moved, I still felt like someone would want us. Someone. As we walked out of the room, hand in hand, Cam looked up to me and smiled. Every time Cam would smile at me like that, it filled me with so much hope and love. When he smiled, I knew it would be OK.

Comment for a sequel! :)

Auto Correct

I haven't blogged for a while now so I figured that I would do something about the issue. Today I'm talking about auto correct. It needs to be put on this site! I can't write for two seconds without messing up and in Microsoft Word it is corrected. It's a little more than slightly annoying, especially when you don't have much time to complete an assignment. They don't even capitalize the I's for you! Good grief.

Remebering 9/11

September 11, 2011 will NEVER be forgotten. though I was too young to understand what it was all about, now i see how much of a tragedy it was. Children lost their mothers and fathers. people lost their sisters, brothers and dear friends. I'm so happy that a memorial is being built and was opened yesterday. Even so, the hurt is still there, and is always there. Hearing survivor accounts and hearing about people and their last moments, some of the heroes who gave their lives to save others.

A serious problem in our world

Today I'm going to discuss the problem of rabid dogs taking over New York City. Yeah you heard me, RABID DOGS. With the foam in the mouth and all that jazz. I know I'm not the only one whos heard of this problem, because just the other day I came home and my cat was talking about it. Why are you looking at me like that?! Don't you talk to your cat? So anyway, she said a cousin's father's aunt's friend's co-worker was bitten. So I KNOW it is true. Poor giraffe didn't even survive. R.I.P Gregory, YOU WILL BE MISSED.

END.

P.S. There are no rabid dogs, just rabid people :)
P.S.S.S.S.S. Just kidding.
